Charisse started her performing arts journey with the Disney Channel as a writer, casting director, and performer. She then continued her training at various institutions, including AYT (theatre), Ettinghausens (ballet and pointe), Rob Martin Productions (singing, musical theatre), Brent Street (ballet, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, tap, acrobatics), NIDA (musical theatre), ATOD (musical theatre), and Broadway Dance Centre (ballet, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, musical theatre, singing, drama).
In 2005, Charisse founded ACTiv Elite Performers, a performing arts studio where she serves as the Principal. Her training has produced many professional performers who have worked both nationally and internationally. Some of her students have furthered their studies at WAAPA, NIDA, ED5, VCA, and Brent Street.
Charisse takes pride in being a member of the International Drama Teacher Academy. She has earned a Diploma in Musical Theatre and a Certificate IV in Performing Arts and is currently pursuing further studies. Charisse’s heart lies with Broadway and enjoys travelling to New York once a year to partake in musical theatre intensives. Her most memorable moments in musical theatre include playing Pennywise in ‘Urinetown’, Rusty in ‘Footloose’, Helene in ‘Sweet Charity’ and Miss Hannigan in ‘Annie’.
Charisse is well known for challenging students and bringing out the best possible results each individual can achieve.
