Jake Burden was born in West Yorkshire, United Kingdom. He received his formal training in schools such as the Royal Ballet School, The Hammond School, and Elmhurst Ballet School.
Jake has danced professionally with prestigious companies across the globe, including Birmingham Royal Ballet, Boca Ballet Theatre, Magdeburg Ballet, Leipzig Ballet, and Singapore Ballet. His repertoire includes notable roles such as Basilio (Don Quixote), the Prince (The Nutcracker), the Drummer Boy (Graduation Ball), among many others. In addition to his classical career, Jake has also appeared in numerous musical theatre productions.
Throughout his career, Jake has performed works by some of the world’s most influential choreographers, including George Balanchine, Sir Peter Wright, Nacho Duato, Augustus Bournonville, Goh Choo San, Gonzalo Galguera, Ma Cong, David Bintley, and Uwe Scholz, among others. In 2011, he was honoured with the German Young Dancer of the Year award.
In 2016, Jake founded Ballet Brothers, an organisation dedicated to supporting and connecting male dancers. The initiative has since provided workshops, summer programs, private coaching, scholarships, and more, impacting the lives of aspiring dancers across the globe. With over a decade of teaching experience, Jake has successfully mentored numerous students who have gone on to join leading schools and professional companies worldwide.
Jake is widely recognised as a passionate and visionary emerging choreographer. Critics have described his choreography as modern, sleek, and stylish. His choreographic works include Forest of Mind, presented at the Sydney International Gala; Element, created for Porsche; Regal Edge for the Sydney Chocolate Ball; a music video for Ben Gillies; editorial features for Façon Magazine; All Directions for Ballet Gala Australia; and many others.
Jake is now the Artistic Director of Nova City Ballet and he is committed to excellence in dance education, Jake continues to refine his teaching philosophy, fostering an environment that promotes growth, discipline, and creative expression.
