Sarah Tyson is an experienced dance educator, choreographer, studio director and talent manager with more than 20 years in the performing arts industry. She has trained at Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Sydney Theatre School and University of Sydney, and holds qualifications in dance, acting, performance studies, ballet teaching and vocational education.
Sarah has worked professionally across stage and screen, including theatre, television and film, giving her extensive knowledge of both technical training and performance. In 2016, she founded Laneway Dance, an award-winning studio where she mentors dancers, leads vocational training programs and develops award-winning choreography across multiple genres.
A passionate advocate for child safety and positive dance education, Sarah was recognised in 2025 when Laneway Dance received the Australasian Dance Education Award for Excellence in Child Safety Practice. Her students have achieved outstanding examination, competition and academic results, including performances at the Sydney Opera House and exceptional HSC Dance outcomes.
As an adjudicator, Sarah is known for her professionalism, warmth and constructive feedback, recognising both technical achievement and artistic expression while encouraging dancers to continue growing in confidence and skill.
