Lisa began dancing at the age of five, studying all facets of
dance including classical ballet, musical theatre, tap, jazz, hip
hop and contemporary. Lisa competed in many local
eisteddfods, as well as interstate and also danced under the
guidance of Kathleen Gorham O.B.E in Queensland.
Lisa trained in classical ballet (Cecchetti Syllabus) and is a fully
qualified teacher in the A.T.O.D Syllabus, having gained both her
Junior and Associate Teaching Diplomas in 1991. She has also
furthered her qualifications and knowledge in Tap by studying
the Glen Wood Tap Syllabus.
Lisa’s excellent classical teaching consistently allows students to
gain extremely high marks for their classical examinations each
and every year.
Lisa is the Owner/Director of a well-established dance school in
Gippsland and will proudly celebrate 39 years of teaching in
2026. Lisa has expanded her extensive teaching expertise
through her completion of Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and
Management and has completed her certificate in Dance
Adjudication with Australian Dance Adjudicators (ADA). Lisa is a
highly renowned adjudicator and is well known for her excellent
feedback and detailed written and voice critiques. Lisa is also
currently a mentor for ADA trainee adjudicators.
Lisa has enjoyed teaching dance to kindergarten and primary
school students and has also worked for the organization Berry
Street, teaching dance to children recovering from the trauma
of abuse, neglect or violence. Working with special needs adults
from IGain and using dance as a therapy has also been a
highlight in Lisa’s dancing and teaching career.
Lisa likes to encourage all students and give positive and
constructive feedback. She has a great passion for teaching
and feels truly fortunate to work in such an enjoyable and
rewarding occupation as both a teacher and adjudicator.
