Melanie has been a dance teacher since 2002, specialising in Classical Ballet and many other styles of dance. She trained with the Australian Ballet School under the directorship of Gailene Stock and graduated with an Advanced Diploma Of Dance/Honours.


Career highlights


At the Australian Ballet School Melanie represented the ABS at the International Ballet Competition in South Africa where she won Gold in both Pre Professional and Professional award categories. She was also chosen to dance the lead role in Petal Miller Ashmole’s ballet, The Red Shoes performed at the State Theatre in Melbourne. Melanie was then offered a contract with The Australian Ballet Company under the directorship of Ross Stretton, where she travelled the world performing soloist and principle roles in many beautiful much loved ballet’s. A highlight for her was performing in the ballet, In The Middle Somewhat elevated by William Forsythe, which is a contemporary electrifying masterpiece.


Upon her retirement from the company Melanie has conducted Education Programs for the Australian Ballet along side Colin Peasley, choreographic workshops, QUT final assessments, Adjudication work including the RAD Bursary Finals in VIC.


Current


Melanie’s next adventure was opening her own ballet school in NSW specialising in Vaganova and RAD training methods. And since relocating back to Melbourne she has taught at many professional schools across VIC. Her favourite area of interest and passion is stage performance and production work. This is why Melanie loves to Adjudicate and inspire children of all ages that dance and pass on her world of professional performing experience.
