Kristy Burges

Kristy’s dance journey began at the age of 7 on New South Wales’ Mid North Coast, where she trained across all genres and completed examinations in BBO Jazz, RAD Ballet, and LGTDA Tap.

By the age of 17, her passion for teaching was undeniable, leading her to begin her career as a dance educator.

With over two decades of experience, Kristy has built a reputation as a passionate and nurturing teacher who inspires students of all ages. Over the years, Kristy has created pathways for hundreds of young dancers, from their very first ballet class through to advanced pre-professional training.

Kristy brings to adjudication the same values that have shaped her teaching career: fairness, encouragement, and a keen eye for detail. Having prepared students for examinations, competitions, and stage performances for more than 20 years, she understands the courage it takes for dancers to step onto the stage. Her goal as an adjudicator is to provide constructive, inspiring feedback that not only acknowledges achievement but also motivates dancers to grow. Kristy is committed to celebrating creativity and individuality, while recognising strong technique and performance quality.

Kristy holds a Certificate IV in Dance Teaching & Management and a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, qualifications that underpin her expertise in both dance education and assessment. She is also a certified Acrobatic Arts instructor and has trained extensively in RAD Classical Ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, tap, hip hop, and acrobatics. In addition to running her own academy, Kristy is actively involved in VET dance education, supporting students undertaking Certificates in Dance. Her commitment to continuous professional development reflects her belief in lifelong learning and striving for excellence.

Kristy offers a wealth of teaching and mentoring experience, combined with a genuine passion for helping dancers achieve their potential. She has worked with diverse age groups and abilities, and understands how to balance technical assessment with encouragement. Her warmth and professionalism ensure that every dancer feels valued, while her experience across multiple genres allows her to adjudicate with knowledge and insight.

Kristy believes adjudication is about guiding the next generation of dancers with thoughtful feedback and positive reinforcement. With her depth of experience, nurturing approach, and love of dance, she brings both credibility and inspiration to every event.
